Save For Your Kid’s College

Posted in Uncategorized  by J Will

I have not had a post about money in awhile so I figured I get something up here. Yesterday, I joined Upromise which is a FREE service that helps families save for college. I have known about it for a long time, but I have been lazy. I am setting this up for my kids and I am hoping that I will have have collected a few thousand dollars to contribute to their college. The service is simple, all you have to do sign up and enter some info. They do try to get you to sign up for a MasterCard, so make sure you avoid doing that.

I set it up so that my mom’s Martin’s Supermarket Advantage Card and her CVS Extra Care cards can credit my account. I also then put my credit card info on there so that anyplace I shop that gives kickbacks to upromise can credit my account. I am not close with my grandma or any other member of my family to ask them for their rewards cards from their grocer or drugstore, but if you are kudos to you. The more sources you have signed up the more money gets credited to your account.

So their ya go, it takes about ten minutes to sign up and then you just sit back and rake in cash for your kids (or future kids, like me). I will probably have 20 years for this to add up so I am hoping I make a decent amount. If you are going to add a rewards card to your account you need to have the number on the back. So tell your parents to email them to ya. Every few months I’ll post what my account balance is on the blog, this way if you are skeptical you can see my progress.
